a large piece of hull from the legendary air ship Framed section of the hull with clearly visible area of previous repairs. Signed at the lower right by the German Consul in Los Angeles, Emil Rödel, with text "Echtes Stück der Hülle des Luftschiffs Graf Zeppelin - Der Deutsche Konsul Emil Rödel" ("Genuine piece of the hull of air ship Graf Zeppelin - the German Consul Emil Rödel"). In a modern aluminium frame mounted on wood. Framed dimensions 90 x 90 cm. The outer skin comes from the world cruise of LZ 127, when during its Pacific crossing turbulence caused the air ship to sustain hull and other damage. Portions of the hull were repaired during a maintenance layover in Los Angeles on 26 August 1929. The described piece was presented to the German Consul E. Rödel, who in turn turned it over to the former Honorary Consul of Los Angeles, Kurt Robert Besser. A unique opportunity to obtain a section of the hull of the legendary LZ 127. The framed piece can conceivably also be regarded as an object of minimalist art with a contemporary background.
