serial #3545, .52 caliber, 20" part round part octagon barrel with a very good bore. The lockplate bears proper markings and the right side of the frame is marked "UNION / RIFLE". All serial numbers match and the bottom of the barrel is additionally marked with a larger "86" and also "A&CO.". The metal surfaces of carbine are mostly a gray patina with some scattered areas of surface oxidation and a patch or two of light pitting. The buttstock has been refinished but still shows a faint cartouche on left side opposite lock. A good solid example of the Gwynn & Campbell carbine. (15658-1) {ANTIQUE}

serial #2510, .52 cal. percussion, 20" barrel with an about excellent bright bore which shows only very sparse, very light pitting. The barrel is pleasing mix of original fading deep gray blue and smooth plum patina with some minor handling marks. The frame is primarily a mottled smoky case-hardened gray and flaky silver case-hardened and plum brown patina with fading original colors which are strong behind the hammer, lever and on the left side in the area of the sling ring bar. The lockplate is primarily a flaked pewter case-hardened patina with plum speckling while the hammer exhibits light pitting and remnants of original colors; the lever is now primarily a deep plum brown with silvery flaked case-hardening. The stock rates excellent with good original varnish, crisp left side cartouche and "R.K.W." inspectors marking ahead of the buttplate tang. The barrel, frame, lever, catch and breechblock numbers all match. There are numerous inspectors markings with a "PT" on the bottom of the barrel and a very light ".A. & Co." marking on the right diagonal barrel flat. The lock mechanism is crisp and mechanically functional. A very fine to excellent example overall of these rather prolific Union carbines. (34859-1) {ANTIQUE}
